143: How to create education online courses

Have you ever wanted to turn your expertise and knowledge into an online course to help others? I chat to Billy Bross who explains how his idea took him from a side project to a full time business.

Billy Bross had a thriving career as a consultant in the energy industry, working with important clients like the Department of Energy, Native American tribes, and Fortune 500 companies. It was an interesting and rewarding career, but deep down he was looking for something more.

He wanted to do something he was passionate about, a venture of his own. He began with a beer brewing blog and had unexpected success offering tips on home brewing. Billy took a chance and decided to sell an online course on the topic. It worked! He quickly began making as much money from selling his course as he made as a successful energy consultant.

Since then, he has dedicated himself to helping online education companies and course creators break through the noise and fill their programs with committed, high-quality students and helping them make a good living while having a positive impact.

Marcus Orlovsky – NAPE Patron – 049

Marcus Orlovsky is a financier turned tech turned education facilitator: host of TEDx conferences around Europe, working with students across UK and a National Association for Primary Education patron.

‘At Bryanston Square, I am combining my skills and knowledge to make a difference in education, from the facilities to what goes on in them, and it’s something I’m passionate about. I built a small organisation to work on bidding for large Government contracts under what was then the Building Schools for the Future programme. We bid for some 48 projects, all highly sought after contracts, and won 42. Later, I also assisted some Local Government procurement directors on around £1.5Bn of contracts from the private sector.

In addition to my speaking engagements, I now work in and around schools and their students, although I still get involved in a few building or renovation projects. I fund the work we do with students around the country through commercial work for private sector clients.

My time is taken up with projects and with helping drive change. I am often asked to speak at conferences and seminars, where my main focus is on achievement and removing blockers. Some call it motivational speaking. I also get asked to speak to commercial organisations at conferences and seminars where the matters are remarkably similar. I’ve been lucky enough to have received great reviews.’

140: The Yoghurt & Juice Network

Health and nutrition education for teachers and parents. Support your children to learn about their wellbeing in school or online.

The Yoghurt & Juice Network was an idea born during a long car journey, where founders and Nutritionists, Yasmin and Jenna, were fed up of listening to the responsibility of the current state of children’s health being passed between parents, schools, industry, government and so on.

As a result, they decided to take on some of the responsibility themselves, by creating The Yoghurt & Juice Network and providing credible nutrition education, first hand, to children, parents and teachers in schools and colleges. The network strives to achieve it’s aims through delivering classroom workshops, assemblies, whole school initiatives and teacher and parent talks through innovative and creative means.

At The Yoghurt and Juice Network we strongly believe that healthy eating should always be enjoyable, delicious and never a chore. We believe in educating children to allow them to enjoy making healthier choices whilst understanding the benefits to their long term health.

We strongly feel that children should be provided with the best chances possible and understanding the relationship between what they eat and their health outcomes is the perfect place to start.
